Rhonda LaRoy
The effervescent Rhonda LaRoy is a singer, songwriter, dancer,
choreographer and one of the all too few great female record producers.
She started performing at five years of age, singing a capella to an
audience of 500. They gave her a standing ovation -- the first of many.
She has continued to perform, in Europe and the United States, amazing
audiences with her vocal pyrotechnics and dynamic dancing.
In Germany, she was offered her first major deal with Metronome Records,
releasing the CD maxi-single, “Sunday Morning”. German radio
announcers and newspapers said, “’Sunday Morning’, by LaRoy, is a
smash hit.” It sold out every week it was in the stores. People were
coming in buying 20 CDs at a time. Radio and club DJs voted it the
number one hit.
Her second release, “Everybody’s Gotta Learn Sometime” (Vision/Blitz),
was number two on the radio charts in Sweden.
Her third release, “Party Up” (Sony), with the group Powersound, was a
hit in Japan, released on Super Dance Trax and Top Power Dance Trax.
Her fourth release, “Feel the Beat” (MCA/Universal), with Rhythm and
Dance Machine, was number 20 on the German radio dance charts, and
number one on Rio de Janeiro club charts.
Her fifth release, “Violet Space/Don’t Hurt” (Polydor), with Pascal Device,
was number 9 on German radio and dance charts, and on MTV Europe.
Her song, “Inside Outside of Time”, produced by Robert Hawkins, won a
Billboard songwriter’s award in America while she was in Europe.
Every European release has gone into the top twenty, and she has written
and recorded even more songs soon to be released.
She was the lead singer with LaRoy, Montez, Rhythm and Dance Machine,
Powersound, Pascal Device, L. D. Mission of Love, Native Instinct, and
Native Tongue.
Besides the bands she has played with, she performed in a “Roaring
Twenties” Tour, the light opera, “The Student Prince”, and the Broadway
musical “Godspell”.
Rhonda has a proven ability to search out and find what will be a hit, write
it, record it and produce it. She recently spent a month back in Germany
working on another collection of music, and met with European
promoters, record distributors, music publishers and some of the top
musicians on the Continent.
She is currently working with her team of co-writers on songs for artists in
the US and Europe as well as preparing music for her own upcoming
album. To call Rhonda a prolific songwriter is to dwell in the land of
understatement.
